EL Encuentro Juvenil Baxter 2018 has come to an end. This year’s theme was “UBUNTU- Together Towards the Goal.” There were over 300 youth who attended from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and Puerto Rico!
Selvin Monterroso and Julio Mejia were the main speakers that delved deeper into the meaning of UBUNTU. There were also a variety of workshops that the youth attended such as “Together for One More Mile” by Eduardo Rocha, “In the Battlefield” by Samuel Azucena, and “Forever Alone” by Noel Argón. The youth who came also participated in sports, service projects, community building activities, games, worship, prayer, small groups, and meals.
This year’s theme of UBUNTU gave the youth an opportunity to feel like part of a family and understand that they are never alone. Whether in a small task they had to accomplish like a relay race or working together towards a bigger goal, the youth were encouraged and strengthened in their relationships with Christ and each other.
During the Encuentro, the family of Christ also grew with 7 baptisms!
