Miguel arrived at Baxter Institute in Mexico City in 1973 as a student from Honduras. In 1978, he became a professor for Baxter when the campus moved to Tegucigalpa. Miguel has also studied at four U.S. universities. Among his many studies is a master’s degree in theology from Harding School of Theology.

Miguel instituted the Missionary Apprenticeship Program (MAP) and TORCH missions. He has served as president of the governmental grouping for the churches of Christ in Honduras. Aguilar and his deceased wife, Michelle, are parents to Anna Michelle. He and his second wife, Rosa Lidia, are parents to three additional daughters: Yireyá, Victoria, and Sophia. Besides teaching a wide range of Bible classes, he is most known for his Hebrew classes.
